Two down and four to go! Last weekend I exhibited at the Hereford Contemporary Craft Fair at the Courtyard Arts Centre. Its was a fantastic show, well organised and very well attended. I showed new work and a lovely person bought one of my favourite pieces, the Flower Bomb Necklace pictured.

This weekend coming up ( 26 and 27 November) I am exhibiting at the South Hill Park Craft and Design Fair in Bracknell. You will find me at stand 63 in the Bracknell Gallery.

Farnham Maltings is delighted to host its 15th annual festival of crafts on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 October, a festival of contemporary craft in one of south-east England’s creative hot spots.festival of crafts brings together over 70 designer-makers and offers a great opportunity for visitors to buy bespoke craft pieces and gain inspiration from skilled professionals.Contemporary crafts on show include ceramics, textiles, glass, metal, jewellery and wood. Items range from hand bound books, embroidered accessories, bespoke wallpaper, textured silver jewellery and handmade furniture.

This year’s festival will feature Making Surrey, a county-wide project funded by the Arts Partnership Surrey and Arts Council England and project managed by Farnham Maltings and Tandridge Leisure Ltd. Professional craft-makers have taken up residency in communities across the county to deliver a high quality programme of craft-related activity, some of which will be exhibited and demonstrated at the festival of crafts.

Surrey Guild of Craftsmen will also be at the festival demonstrating the diverse crafts they have within their membership and promoting the work of professional crafts people throughout the county. Their members’ work will be available to purchase from shop maltings, Farnham Maltings’ craft and vintage store.

Enjoy an exciting day in the historic 18th century Maltings building as it is transformed into a treasure trove of unique gifts and invaluable expertise.

Mixed Metal Brooch Challenge

Jewellery students at Maiden Erlegh Community Arts were given a challenge to make a brooch from these materials:

Brass, copper sheet , silver wire, copper foil, guilding metal and paper

There were a few guidelines, such as to use as many techniques as possible, strictly no glue allowed and only a maximum of 5 grammes of silver could be added to the materials provided. Here is one of their wonderful brooches:

You are invited to the Whiteknights Studio Trail

A Walking Tour of Artists’ Studios in the University Area of Reading

This year, the 11th Whiteknights Studio Trail takes place on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th June. All venues will be open from 11am to 6pm. 33 artists will be welcoming guests into their private studios, beautiful homes and public spaces.

There will be a wonderful variety of work on show – paintings, photography, textiles, ceramics, glass, jewellery and even handmade furniture.

The Trail embraces the originality and talent of the artists who all live in this small enclave of Reading. If you are looking for something unique and distinctive to see or buy you need look no further.

Parking is available at the University campus and the trail has been designed so that you walk to each studio.
